This course introduces the management of libraries, archives, records centers, and related knowledge organization systems. It examines the foundations of management in information institutions and compares how different institution types organize services, collections, records, staff, technologies, and users.
The course is grounded in Philippine practice while drawing on broader library, archives, and records management concepts. Across the semester, students examine professional roles, preservation and access, leadership and ethics, budgeting and facilities, digital services, knowledge organization, user services, and assessment. The course culminates in a librarian interview and
a term paper that connects field insight with course concepts.
