The course that will help you reflect on how industrial relations (IR), through its institutions, humanize, stabilize, professionalize, democratize, and balance the employment relationship and work relations. This course will provide you an opportunity to integrate your learning experiences in the previous core courses you took in SOLAIR. In this course, we will review key theories in IR, and use them in analyzing recent trends, developments, and issues in employment relations, the labour market, and work in general in the Philippines and in other countries. This course will help you draw and appreciate the link between industrial relations institutions (e.g., labour laws and social policies, trade unions and employers’ organizations, collective bargaining, social dialogue) and development.
