The course examines the production, style, and meaning of art between the 14th and 17th century in light of the intentions and practices of artists, sources of patronage, and the prevailing social and historical conditions of the period. It will highlight the different materials and techniques that were developed by Renaissance artists to expose students to more methods in art production and give students a deeper appreciation of what they use today in their process of art making. The theme for this specific course is the about re/imagining the Renaissance in 21st century conditions, in which we will speculate how the concepts and ideas of that period can be contextualized in our local setting and conditions.
