This is an applied course on international trade and development, with a focus on policies.   Basic international trade and development policies will be covered, but not extensively.

The course will employ the use of AI to facilitate the understanding of trade concepts and explore the current issues / approaches most relevant to the Philippines.

The deliberate use of AI will influence the grading system.  Class discussions, assignments & paper will carry more weight than exams. Exams will also be both oral and written.  We will also utilized the flip-classroom or problem-based learning (PBL) method.  This means that time spent in lectures will be devoted to (two-way) discussions among students and teacher. Everyone is a learner in this class.

We will be using the textbook of Krugman, Obstfeld & Melitz (KOM), International Economics Theory and Policy (11th edition; actually, any edition will do).  Basic set of readings will be assigned, but the readings that will be used in the exams will depend on the questions we will be prompting AI, and on the discussions in class.
