The course will focus on methodologies and attitudes towards rhetorical scholarship. It aims to supplement the historical, theoretical, and political understanding of rhetoric cultivated in the previous courses within the department’s rhetorical track. Emphasis will be given on the contemporary turns toward ideological, feminist, queer, visual, digital, and postcolonial criticism. Additionally, the course aims to introduce methods that go beyond the realm of textual and symbolic analysis and move towards areas that prioritize context, field, performance, and engagement.
