Linguistics 110 (Linggwistiks 110) is an introductory course to the scientific study of language, also
known as linguistics. In this course, we will cover key assumptions and concepts of language and
some basic methodologies in the analysis of language as a grammatical system. We will primarily
focus on the students’ respective experiences of language—as speakers, learners, or even creators—
as the lens in which we learn and apply the diƯerent technical aspects of grammar, namely phonetics,
phonology, morphology, and syntax.
