Course Description: The administrative organization and operations of local government and regional administration and special structures.
Course Objectives: At the end of this course, the students will develop an appreciation for and understanding of local government as an organization and institution. Specifically, the students will be able to:
· CO1: Explain theories, concepts and principles of local government and regional administration
· CO2: Discuss central-local relations as a concept
· CO3: Discuss LG system, roles, functions and processes (local legislation/policy making, organization and management, local fiscal administration, local development planning, etc.)
· CO4: Identify major milestones in the evolution of Philippine LGs
· CO5: Discuss other forms of LG structural or service delivery arrangements (such as metropolitan arrangement, inter-local cooperation, sister cities, consolidation/merger) and selected special or emerging trends, issues and challenges in LG and regional administration
