This doctoral seminar is an introductory course to the numerous organizational theories (OT). OT draws from many fields, primarily from the social sciences (sociology, economics, psychology, and political science), but also from the physical sciences (biology and ecology).
In OT, the primary unit of analysis is
the organization. Many aspects of the organizations are explored in this
course: how organizations form, survive, and grow; interact with each other and
with the larger social, economic, political, and cultural environment; and the
like.
