Seminar course examining the historical, ideological, cultural, economic and political foundations of international relations in Southeast Asia. The course also explores contemporary issues and problems in the external linkages of Southeast Asia and ASEAN and how these may have an impact on the Philippines.

Philippine Studies 219 is a presentation and analysis of certain aspects of Philippine society and culture, which include but are not limited to the interplay of social and cultural formations with history, politics, religion, and the arts. Through multidisciplinary/interdisciplinary modalities, the course involves the foregrounding and interrogation of these aspects, and the critical examination of how they bear on contemporary Philippine society and culture.
