The course will enable students to understand the role of theory in communication and mass media studies; be familiar and learn to appreciate the various communication and media theories available for their use in future research (i.e., Thesis); have a working knowledge of how to apply these theories in understanding and analyzing communication and media situations; and, know the basics of using communication and media theories for building a research framework.


This course explores the symbiotic relationship between media and society with the goal of helping students gain a critical and comprehensive understanding of today’s complex media landscape.
