BM 101 introduces students to the business world from the lens of a managerial perspective. This course offers a point-by-point examination of the four functions of management namely: (1) Planning, (2) Organizing, (3) Leading, and (4) Controlling. Also, Introduction to Management aims to show students how these core functions interrelate thereby exemplifying the entire management process within organizations. Moreover, this course includes a presentation of how management has evolved by looking into theories and approaches that have contributed to contemporary management as we know it; how culture, ethics, and the organization’s environment impacts an organization; and answer why the process of decision making is pin-pointed to be the essence of management.

This course introduces the students to research from a Marketing perspective. Aside from gaining appreciation as to how market research is beneficial for business organizations, BM 174 aims to explore the market potential of a product or service through test marketing using simulated activities.
