Course Description

 This course provides an avenue for the students to integrate the theories, concepts, and methods that they have learned in their previous communication classes as it prepares them to conduct their own research through a comprehensive research proposal, and a defended concept paper, which are the major outputs of the course. 

Objectives

At the end of the course, the students will be able to:

  1. Explain the relationship among the following: research problem, framework of the study, and research design.
  2. Design a communication research proposal.

Course Description: Newsgathering and reporting for multimedia journalism, with emphasis on specialized beats and in-depth reporting.

Course Outcome

 At the end of this course, students should be able to:

o   Develop a deeper understanding of news values and newsworthiness in evaluating an event, idea or issue as subject of a news story;

o   Effectively and ethically research news stories using journalistic research techniques;

o   Write publishable news articles;

o   Cover  various  beats   such as   police, politics, labor, health, education, judiciary and local government.
